HISTORY OF THE CLUB
The West Texas Region had it's first offical meeting May 26, 1959. In June 1959, James Cogdell was elected Director and Dr. W. D. Kelly Assistant Director. They applied for a Charter and adopted By-Laws, using suggestions from the National organization. The Charter was received October 1959, under the name "West Texas Region Antique Automobile Club of America" under a non profit organization status. There were 15 Charter members, Mr. & Mrs. Max Anderson, Mr. James Cogdell, Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Givens, Jr., Mr. & Mrs. Leldon Harris, Mr. & Mrs. E. S. Kenner, Dr. & Mrs. W. D. Kelly, Ms Kimberly Shawn Kelly, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Sanders, and Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Webb. During those first 10 years the club made several 1 and 2 day tours to
Big Spring for picnics, Ft. Davis for camp outs, Christoval for camp outs (we were much younger then). Since that time there have been more Texas Tours, Eastern New Mexico Tours to many to mention.
The National AACA Western meet was held June 8-9, 1962 in Odessa Texas, and was hosted by the West Texas Region.
In December 1962, the club adapted the colors red, white and blue as the offical colors.
There have been 31 Presidents since the club started.
Congratulations to Ralph and Patsy Webb for more than 50 years of Motoring with the club.
